Mandatory Tasks
Do or Die
In true pirate spirit, we’ve given each team a balloon to look after for the entire race. If your balloon survives the duration of the race and crosses the finish line intact your team will be awarded a 10 minute time deduction! (Beware - pirates are on the loose! sabotage is allowed!)
Solve the riddle and seek out your host! If you fail to complete this you will be disqualified!
Penalty Tasks
Do or suffer a time penalty
Your Captain Cook has gone missing! Find the famous explorer and capture a creative moment with him. If you fail to complete this you will receive a 15 minute penalty
Pirates love a cocktail - solve these cocktail anagrams and get a picture of a team member drinking the one with the most ingredients. Failure to do this will result in a 10 minute penalty.
Shiver me timbers, even pirates gotta respect the treasures of old! Before ye set sail for ancient riches, take a moment to unearth a relic from a bygone era! Take a photo of a team member holding a tech item from the past eg. flip phone, cassette, CD player, tamagotchi. Failure to do this will result in a 10 minute penalty.
Time to quench your thirst and test your knowledge at the nearest grog shack (pub or cafe)! Grab yourselves a tankard of your favourite grog and tackle the pub quiz hidden within your treasure chest (that be your Race Kit). At the venue, get a team photo holding your completed pub quiz for a successfully completed challenge. If you fail to send the team picture with your completed quiz you’ll receive a 20 minute penalty. You will receive a 1 minute penalty per incorrect or unanswered question.
Why walk the plank when you can be a plank! A member of your team must hold a plank position in the most obscure place they can find (see below for an example)! Snap a pic for proof! Failure to do this will result in a 5 minute penalty.
Bonus Tasks!
Do and turn back time - Cher style!
Recreate ONE of these famous movie scenes with a member of the public for a time deduction! We love a good laugh so bonus minutes deducted for the most creative!
To deduct 10 minutes from your total race time, everyone on your team must cross the finish line with a pegged leg!
For a 15 minute time deduction,
snap a photo of your heartiest crewmate posin' in front of a boat. The most creative pose or scene (think parrots on shoulders, peg-leg walkin', or capturin' the perfect sunset over the ship's mast) wins your crew a bonus 5 minutes off your time!
To deduct 10 minutes off your total race time capture your best sword fight video in front of somewhere with water. Get creative as
the best sword fight will win an additional 5 minutes off!
SABOTAGE TIME! If one of your team members manages to get a selfie of themselves with an entire other team in the background then your team will be awarded a 15 minute deduction. (BUT please note - it must be the whole team and they can’t be looking at the camera - otherwise it’s not valid!)
